We have a license for LiveCycle, but I'm trying to find documentation regarding the OCR capabilities that Adobe has.

The goal is as follows: to create a service that receives a file (image or pdf), runs OCR on it and then returns the text within. If it was a PDF passed in then it would be nice to return a PDF with the newly derived text embedded within the PDF.

I guess I want to know:

- Does Adobe have an API for me to use (most likely from C#) that will allow me to OCR a PDF/image?

- If Adobe does OCR, can it embed the derived text?

- Where can I find documentation/examples to do any of this?

When setting up the WatchFolder after initial TURNKEY install, I am receiving the following error: 

ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document in the failure.log file  (full text of error below).

This is, of course, after working thru other errors, but have been unable to get past this one.  According to the LiveCycle AdminUI About page I have LiveCycle PDF Generator ES v8.2.1 loaded.  Again, I used the TURNKEY install, have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended installed on the same server along with MicroSoft Office v2007.  I looked at the other posts involving this error message, but didn't see where a resolution has been given nor did any of the information lead me to a fix.  I tried doing a simple MS Word document conversion from the adminui, the same error, ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document came up.  I have been able to open a WORD doc on the server and print using the Adobe PDF printer and that worked just fine.  Any help given will be much appreciated!

Hi guys,

Currently we have a requirement in which we have to place an image and the image on click has to produce another image (a zoom in, for example).

Currently it is doing this using the code below:

Script - click event of the First Image button

var image = StaticImage1.value.image.value; newImage.rawValue = image;

Script - click event of the Second Image button

var image = StaticImage2.value.image.value; newImage.rawValue = image;

However when clicking the second image it will ask for an image to be loaded everytime!!

Is there a way around this image load event? We want the user to be able to click the second image without asking him to load a another image (no event on click).

P.S. Attached is how we did it, and you can see clearly how it asks for an image on click.

I am looking for my requirement i.e. my windows application should have access to LiveCycle PDF Generator ES3 API, for converting the document (*.doc) into (*.pdf) at run-time. End-user will select the document to be converted into PDF format. And my application will use your API for doing so. Just an update that document can contains Japanese text in it.

I'm in the middle of creating a very complex pdf form via LC and have run into a couple of roadblocks. On page 5, I need the user to be able to attach a document "Add Profile", they then need to be able to open the attachment "View Profile" and remove the document if needed "Remove Profile. My Add Profile button works great but the View and Remove can't locate the file attachment.

First, thanks for reading this post. I will really appreciate any comment or help which might help me troubleshooting my current issue.

To make it very quick :

1 - I created a PDF format with Adobe LiveCycle Designer (ES2)

2 - I "Distributed" the PDF format to have one editable file that my client can fill and return via "Submit Form" button

3 - It is working properly and when my clients are done completing the format and click the "Submit Form" button, it automatically sends the PDF to the email address which was linked on the first "Distribution" process.

My problem is that I used a "test" email address when I firstly edited the PDF file. Now I would like to change the email address which is linked to this PDF but I cannot find any option or way to do it in Adobe Live Cycle Designer. When I try to distribute the form again, it doesn't ask me to which email address the form will be linked and automatically links it to the first email address provided.

One option I saw is to create a submit button on the PDF format. However, I am afraid that it will look like "double" eventually (1 submit button in PDF file + the Submit Form button already existing on the original file.)

If someone has any idea how to resolve this, I would be really grateful !

now  when I want to convert some word document(.doc) to pdf ,It fails to convert,It shows the following messege:

Error message from the fallback converter:
ALC-PDG-011-030-Submitted OpenOffice Document could not be converted to PDF. Either OpenOffice is not installed on this system or environment variable OpenOffice_PATH is not set to correct path. Please set OpenOffice_PATH environment variable to the <OpenOffice_Installation_Dir> on the server (e.g C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3.0) and then restart the server.

can any body trace the problem ? what I have to do to get successful convertion?

Word, Powerpoint and Text files convert without any issues. Also I'm able to opent the excel files and convert them to pdf using the acrobat option in excel.

Hi,

I am using PDF Generator to convert HTML page to PDF. I have a problem with justified text in HTML, because it's converted as left aligned to PDF.

Center and right aligned text works fine.

I tried to use style="text-align:justify;" and align="justify" attribute, but both with the same result.

If you have any ideas I would really appreciate it!

Right now we are using the Livecycle to combine the PDF's to printer, this process was successfully running.

We got a mail from printer saying that there is repetation of same fonts name displayed in the combine pdf, that need to resolve.

We have used "RunFlex" option in acrobat professional version to distill the .ps to combine PDF file, this was working fine.

I need to configure a process to combine the .ps file.

I configured the PDF's using the "invoke" option.

Hi,

I am converting emails to PDF.  Sometimes it comes in as text, and i need to convert to HTML first.

So to avoid losing the formatting,I surround it with <pre></pre>.

But that means if they didn’t have word-wrap  on when they wrote the email, it will be one long line, causing the font to  scale down, sometimes to size 1 or 2.

I've tried a lot of HTML that adds wordwrapping as a style, and it works for web browsers, but it either gets cut off or the text shrinks.  It seems to be an Adobe bug, because no amount of CSS wizardry fixes it.

   My requirment is:

                          Convert different image file and word document file (.doc,.docx) to pdf and merge to a single pdf and display it to the client over the net.

      I think I can use Livecycle Pdf generator to fulfill my requirment.

  My question is:

                       1 can  use pdf generator standalone i mean with out other services,?

                       2 I will integrate This with java,so where can I find referance material?Is there any lib file?

                       3 amd most important question is what is the price of livecycle pdf generator?

Need some help please, to create and load a Dynamic Header when creating a PDF Portfolio in LiveCycle ES2.  Have input parameter of a [name] and an [image file] to place in the Header.  Process flowing out of Assembler (PDF Generator).  Currently other PDFs being inserted within the Portfolio, and Navigation parameter being received ok, and setting up custom navigation.  Any help w/ creating Dynamic Header is very much appreciated.

I have PDF Generator running fine and I can convert different formats to pdf.

Now I want to setup launchpad for my users to use PDFG. LC Server is using SSL.

LaunchPad can interact with the service and get all the icons (Create pdf, Export pdf.. etc) but when I try to active the 'Create PDF' to import a file i put in the interface I get an error dialogue with the following error:

Can anyone instruct me on how to set up these certificates in JBoss or where it needs to be set up to make LaunchPad work.

Wanted to know if there was an adobe web service or a rest api that can be invoked in a java program to convert doc/docx etc... to PDF.
Not referring to the entire LiveCycle suite, looking for something lightweight, just a service that can be invoked to convert documents to pdf.
