Let Users Annotate A PDF In Browser And Save To Server?

I started this discussion here.

I have a bunch of PDF documents.  I want users to be able to make annotations in their browser, and save them back to my server.

If I use Acrobat X Pro and click on "Send For Shared Review", then it behaves the way I want.  However, I don't want to have to manually open Acrobat every time for each file.

Unfortunately, the Acrobat X SDK doesn't support this feature.

I heard that there's another way to do this with FDF files and LiveCycle.  Is that right?  How do I do that?

What I want is very simple.  I want to write a program that will:

- Take a pdf file from my server.

- Enable the users to make annotations in their browser, as if I used "Send For Shared Review"

- Save the annotations back to my server.

- Merge the annotations into a new PDF document.

I can do this with Acrobat via the GUI.  I want to write a program that does if for me.  Can I do this with LiveCycle?

Hello,

I am creating an console application in C# that will optimize / compress pdf which contain high defination images. I have the pdf which have size above 500 MB i need to compress that kind of pdf files. I have seen the option to save as optimize pdf in Adobe professional software but i want to do that programmatically in my c# application.

Now I have asked this question in Acrobat SDK Forums as well and there they have told me to check Adobe LiveCycle Software Here is the link for that : http://forums.adobe.com/message/5468065.

Now If i want to go with Adobe Livecycle my question is.

  • Can I call or use adobeLivecycle pdf optimizer libraries in my c# application.

Let me know what i can do to integrate in my c# application

Watermarking doubts

Hi all,

Here is the requirement we got it from customer for watermarking. At present this was working fine in PitStop.

Now we are going to move it to Adobe LiveCycle.

Please find attached the screenshot for the watermark sample.

Here is the DDX code:

<DDX xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/DDX/1.0/">
<PDF result="rpt_watermarks_kpi_002.pdf" save="Full">
<Watermark rotation="0" opacity="10%" verticalAnchor="Top" alternation="OddPages">
<StyledText>
<p font-family="Arial Black" color="black" font-size="48pt">Not For Sale</p>
</StyledText>
</Watermark>
<Watermark rotation="0" opacity="10%" verticalAnchor="Bottom" alternation="EvenPages">
<StyledText>
<p font-family="Arial Black" color="black" font-size="48pt">Not For Sale</p>
</StyledText>
</Watermark>
<PDF source="doc1.source"/>
</PDF>
</DDX>

How do I add the "copyright line".

Submit Pdf with rich text field

Hello All,

I have one Pdf designed in the Live Cycle designer 8.0 with one rich text field and couple of textfields and one Http Submit button. When I am trying to

submit the form at the server side which is my jsp Page's Url I got the Fields Values in request but I got the value of RichText field as a static text not the formatted one instead of I have define the field as a richTextField and in binding I have specified type as XHTML. But the same things works fine when I am desiging the Pdf with Live Cycle designer 7.0 same thing I have repeated for 7.0. and in Jsp page I will get the rich text field value as an XHTML with all the formatting style information. I have to design the Pdf in the Live Cycle 8.0. So what is the difference between the two version which will not giving me richtext field output as XHTML.

One Another Question is that how can I allow the user to enter the different langages like Japanese, English, Korean in the Text Fields in the same Template.

Background color for converted 2D CAD drawings

$

Hi,

In the AutoCAD application, designers and engineers see the engineering (DWG) drwaings in "black background" so light-colored lines e.g., white, yellow, etc... do appear very clear. When these DWG converted to PDF via LC PDFG 3D, the result is a PDF with "white background", which make it very difficult for engineers/reviewers to review these drawings.

Is there any way to set the background color? (I know that you can set the background color if you convert to 3D drawings)

Hi,
Has anyone installed Adobe LiveCycle PDF generator on a Unix platform for converting Microsoft Office documents to the PDF format?
- How does it work, since Microsoft Office cannot be installed on the Solaris platform?
- I read that Open Office needs to be installed on the Unix m/c for the actual conversion. Is it True?
- What is the quality of the PDF's generated when the PDF Generator is on Unix platform?

HTML to PDF tag not converting well

Hi,

I am converting emails to PDF.  Sometimes it comes in as text, and i need to convert to HTML first.

So to avoid losing the formatting,I surround it with <pre></pre>.

But that means if they didn’t have word-wrap  on when they wrote the email, it will be one long line, causing the font to  scale down, sometimes to size 1 or 2.

I've tried a lot of HTML that adds wordwrapping as a style, and it works for web browsers, but it either gets cut off or the text shrinks.  It seems to be an Adobe bug, because no amount of CSS wizardry fixes it.

<html>
<body style="font-family: Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14px;color: #000;white-space: normal;">

<pre style="overflow-x: auto;white-space: pre-wrap;white-space: -moz-pre-wrap !important;white-space: -pre-wrap;white-space: -o-pre-wrap;width: 99%;word-wrap: break-word;font-family: Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;color: #000;">

Good day

Generating simple documents takes too long

Hi all,

I have tried to setup a simple process that generates a pdf from the input file. However I have realized that generating a simple docx file with only the text "Test docx document" takes between 20 and 30 seconds. Why is this so and is there a way I can optimize this. My server is a 3.5 GHz processor quadcore with 10 Gb of RAM runnig a turnkey installation (JBOSS and MySQL) of LC ES2.

I hope you can help me out

Thanks in advance

Sincerely

Kim

Live Cycle PDF Generator - Printing issues

$

Hi,

   I am new to LiveCycle and figuring out why a custom code developed will print to one set of printers and not the other.  LiveCycle is running on BEA WebLogic server on Widows 2003.  There is a customized SendToPrinter process I see in the Adobe WorkBench which reads an XML resource to determine which printer configuration.  The actual code for printing is invoked from a service called lprPrint using the LPD protocol for which I do not have the source code.  The app is able to print to one set of Cannon printers controlled in the UNIX environment, however while attempting to print to the another Xerox printer which is in the Windows world, it fails.  I am able to telnet to the Xerox printer on port 515.  I have used various queue names like lp, LP, PS and so forth but to no success.  Any pointer will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

no OCR parameter in "File Type Settings"

The following knowledge base article suggests that there used to be an "Use OCR" parameter in the"File Type Settings" of LiveCycle PDF Generator:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402622.html

Where is this feature now located?

I want to do OCR on full page sized TIFF images or PDFs with page filling TIFF images embedded.

The output format should be PDF.
