An application we are going to develop had a requirement to allow users to interact with MS word files. We have adobe livecycle product that we plan to use to generate pdf's. Is there a programmatic way to convert the generated pdf to word format?

We're beginning an eval of LiveCycle and PDF Generator. I've successfully installed LiveCycle on RHEL 6.1, and everything appears to be configured correctly. (I'm able to load the adminui, at least.) The only module installed is PDF Generator, and when I attempt to convert a PostScript file to a PDF, it fails with the following error:

Sure enough, when I browse to the directory there is no .exe file (or anything for that matter) in there. Which actually confuses me a little - why is it trying to run an exe file on a Linux environment? I'm really quite green at LiveCycle and am not sure what information would be useful to provide other than the OS and installed software:
OS: RHEL 6.1
JAVA: 1.6 u45
AppServer: JBoss 5.1 (the one preconfigured with the LCES4 distributable)
LiveCycle: ES4 (11.0)
I'm happy to provide additional information that will help in debugging this issue. (This feels like a misconfiguration on my part, and I hope someone else has gone through this that can provide a bit of feedback.)

UPDATE: I have resolved the issue of the exe not being in the folder specified - was a bad ear deploy. So the executable now exists:
/usr/share/lc_jboss/server/lc_mysql/svcnative/PsToPdfSvc/PsToPdfService.exe
However, we're still getting the error about not being able to find the executable. Here's the directory list:

Again, this seems like a configuration issue, but I'm really at a loss as to what I've misconfigured.
I'm using ES3 version 10.0.2, GM. Using the service "HTML To PDF" I saw that the rendering engine is:

My question: Is there any way to upgrade the service to use newer version of this engine, and if not is ES4 services use newer engine?

I'm getting the following error when trying to convert .xls and .xlsx files to pdf, using the "Create PDF" option:
Error message from the primary converter:
ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document.
Word, Powerpoint and Text files convert without any issues. Also I'm able to opent the excel files and convert them to pdf using the acrobat option in excel.
Livecycle Version: 10.0.2, GM
MS Office Version: 2007

I have a bunch of PDF documents. I want users to be able to make annotations in their browser, and save them back to my server.
If I use Acrobat X Pro and click on "Send For Shared Review", then it behaves the way I want. However, I don't want to have to manually open Acrobat every time for each file.
Unfortunately, the Acrobat X SDK doesn't support this feature.
I heard that there's another way to do this with FDF files and LiveCycle. Is that right? How do I do that?
What I want is very simple. I want to write a program that will:
- Take a pdf file from my server.
- Enable the users to make annotations in their browser, as if I used "Send For Shared Review"
- Save the annotations back to my server.
- Merge the annotations into a new PDF document.
I can do this with Acrobat via the GUI. I want to write a program that does if for me. Can I do this with LiveCycle?

Is it possible to embed a completed fillable PDF form as a PDF attachment to an email? Those submitting the PDF may only have Adobe Reader. I have created a form, originally with Acrobat 9.0 Pro, then opened it in LiveCycle Designer, and added a submit button with the embed PDF option. It works fine for me, but not for anyone else who has tested it for me. Possibly because they don't have LiveCycle themselves? I have read through some older forums on this issue and am rather confused as to whether it's even doable for retrieving info from the general public. I am a newbie to fillable forms and LiveCycle, sorry. I have a client that really wants a form submitted in this manner and I'm not sure what to tell them. Any help would be appreciated. When setting up the WatchFolder after initial TURNKEY install, I am receiving the following error:

This is, of course, after working thru other errors, but have been unable to get past this one. According to the LiveCycle AdminUI About page I have LiveCycle PDF Generator ES v8.2.1 loaded. Again, I used the TURNKEY install, have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended installed on the same server along with MicroSoft Office v2007. I looked at the other posts involving this error message, but didn't see where a resolution has been given nor did any of the information lead me to a fix. I tried doing a simple MS Word document conversion from the adminui, the same error, ALC-PDG-010-012-PDFMaker reported an error while printing the document came up. I have been able to open a WORD doc on the server and print using the Adobe PDF printer and that worked just fine. Any help given will be much appreciated!

We have installed Adobe LiveCycle PDF generator on Linux platform & to make it functional we need to install the open office. Do we really need to install the open office? Or it will work only by coping the open office lib files and setting the class path for OpenOffice_PATH?
Some errors occur when I try to convert large file(about 30MB.....or may be more....word or ppt) to pdfs with Livecycle PDF Generator .
But the same file can be converted to pdf with the Acrobat Pro

I'm running into an out of memory error on the LiveCycle server when converting a 50 meg Word document with a Web service call. I've already tried increasing the heap size, but I'm at the limit for the 32 bit JVM on windows. I could upgrade to a 64 bit JVM, but it would be a pain and I'm trying to avoid it. I've tried converted the 50 meg document using the LiveCycle admin and it works fine, the issue only occurs when using a web service call. I have a test client and the memory spikes when it's generating the web service call taking over a gig of memory. I assume it takes a similar amount of memory on the receiving end which is why LiveCycle is running out of memory. Does any one have any insight on why passing over a 50 meg file requires so much memory? Is there anyway around this?

We have LiveCycle 8.x with jBoss. It works ok. The server (Windows 2003) can browses to the link, but the link gives error in the LiveCycle Console Admministrator when I use the "HtmlToPdf" service.
JBoss service is started like Local System. I don´t know what to do

Ho realizzato un modulo con livecycle che vorrei caricare sul sito della mia azienda in formato pdf.
Nel modulo ho inserito il pulsante invio tramite mail. Con acrobat reader non funziona il pulsante invio mail e la stampa.
Vorrei sapere come posso riscolvere. Ci sono dei settaggi da fare?
