Hi,

I would like to know does 'Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator' use Microsoft Office or Open Office Automation inside to convert Excel files to PDF.

I'm currently looking for a solution that DOES NOT need Microsoft Excel or Open office to do the conversions.

I would also like to now in an average how long it would take to convert a Excel File to PDF ?

Please Help.

Thanks !

no OCR parameter in "File Type Settings"

The following knowledge base article suggests that there used to be an "Use OCR" parameter in the"File Type Settings" of LiveCycle PDF Generator:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402622.html

Where is this feature now located?

I want to do OCR on full page sized TIFF images or PDFs with page filling TIFF images embedded.

The output format should be PDF.

I am running a TRIAL of "LiveCycle Enterprise Suite 2" Service Pack 2 Version 9.0.0.2.20100902.2.246889 including

ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® PDF Generator ES2

ADOBE® LIVECYCLE® Barcoded Forms ES2

PDF Generator ES - createPDF operation PDF to PDF conversion

$
0
0

I need to create a LiveCycle ES process that takes an input PDF and generates an ouput PDF of specified properties.

The properties of the desired output PDF are specified by passing String parameters (such as the name of FileTypeSettings, PDF Settings and Security Settings) to the LiveCycle ES process.

My process currently uses GeneratePDFService's createPDF operation to do the conversion.

But I notice that if I use FileTypeSettings="Standard", the conversion of PDF to PDF fails with an exception*.

On the otherhand, if I use FileTypeSettings="Standard OCR", then the conversion succeeds.

It looks like, LiveCycle ES wants the FileTypeSettings\Image to PDF\Use OCR option to be checked.

Why is that?

If the input file is a PDF format, why does LiveCycle ES think it is an image file? Why do I have to select "Use OCR" under Image to PDF settings?

Is this a bug in LiveCycle ES and ES2?

My input PDF has only text in it. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is not necessary as there are no images in my input PDF files.

I am easily able to search and highlight text in my input PDF from Acrobat or Reader. So it puzzles me why LiveCycle ES thinks the input is an image!

Some of the business cases for PDF to PDF conversion are:

+ User wants a large number of legacy PDF files of 1.3 or 1.4 version to be converted to PDF files of version 1.6

+ User wants a large number of unsecured PDF files to be secured with open/permission password.

Thanks

ADMINUI Export PDF to WORD Format Does NOT WORK

Hi All,

First of all, I hope i can find somebody who can help me. I write the deployed Adobe Life Cycle Details Below. The Lifecycle system is running on IBM Websphere 6.1.  I call LiveCycle PDF Generator ES -> Export PDF  service over ADMINUI. First of all I understand this functionality works differently for ps , tiff(IMAGE FILES), doc(word format files) files. It calls diffrent functions after invocation layer(1. for ps files 2. for Image files 3. Word files.). The first two one are worked properly. But When i want to export pdf file to rtf or doc file. I got exception at java codes. I do not know which this functionality use ACROBAT or not at the background. Or do i need extra configuration for that functionality. I write the exception below. I could not debug the exception because i could not release what the system does after it calls a process after invocation layer. How can i understand why this job is failed? What i need to configure?

Please Help me ASAP.

OCR API

$

We have a license for LiveCycle, but I'm trying to find documentation regarding the OCR capabilities that Adobe has.

The goal is as follows: to create a service that receives a file (image or pdf), runs OCR on it and then returns the text within. If it was a PDF passed in then it would be nice to return a PDF with the newly derived text embedded within the PDF.

I guess I want to know:

- Does Adobe have an API for me to use (most likely from C#) that will allow me to OCR a PDF/image?

- If Adobe does OCR, can it embed the derived text?

- Where can I find documentation/examples to do any of this?

Thanks!

I am trying to apply a livecycle policy to a document with the following code:

Properties properties = new Properties();

        properties.setProperty(ServiceClientFactoryProperties.DSC_DEFAULT_SOAP_ENDPOINT,

                "https://hostOfJBoss:port");

        properties.setProperty(ServiceClientFactoryProperties.DSC_TRANSPORT_PROTOCOL,

                ServiceClientFactoryProperties.DSC_SOAP_PROTOCOL);

        properties.setProperty(ServiceClientFactoryProperties.DSC_SERVER_TYPE,

                ServiceClientFactoryProperties.DSC_JBOSS_SERVER_TYPE);

        properties.setProperty(ServiceClientFactoryProperties.DSC_CREDENTIAL_USERNAME, "username");

        properties.setProperty(ServiceClientFactoryProperties.DSC_CREDENTIAL_PASSWORD, "password");

        ServiceClientFactory client = ServiceClientFactory.createInstance(properties);

        FileInputStream fis = null;

        try {

            fis = new FileInputStream("test.pdf");

        } catch (FileNotFoundException e) {

            e.printStackTrace();

        }

        Document pdf = new Document(fis);

        RightsManagementClient rmClient = new RightsManagementClient(client);

        DocumentManager docManager = rmClient.getDocumentManager();

        RMSecureDocumentResult finalPdf = null;

        try {

            finalPdf = docManager.protectDocument(pdf, "test.pdf", "Policy", "Policy",

                    null, null, null);

          } catch(.......)

However, I am getting an error on in the protectDocument method:

Checking for pdf/x Compatibility

Hello there

I am using PDF Generator (from LiveCycle ES3) to convert WORD documents and images to pdfs.

In the PDF Generator settings, I am setting the "Compliance Standard" to "PDF/X-3" and the "output intent profile name" to "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2".

Am I able to check (and more importantly verify to my client) that these settings have been applied to the resultant pdf?

When I open the resultant pdf in Acrobat Pro, in "Document Properties", the PDF version is stated as 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x).  However, there is no mention of "x".

In the preflight dialog, I can check the compliance of the document against the various PDF/X standards, however there is no statement of what the current version is.  Moreover, the button to analyze the pdf against the various "output intents" (SWOP, Japan Color Coated and Coated FOGRA39) is greyed out (I am able to "analyze and fix" against each of these options, but again there is no indication of what the current output intent is).

There are no custom properties in the Custom settings tab of the Document Properties dialog (if I save the pdf using "analyze and fix", a value of "PDF/X-3:2002" is created for the custom property "GTS_PDFXVersion" in the new pdf).

Many thanks

Hi,

We are quite new to the use of live cycle pdf generation. Can anyone help us with information as to how we can add header and footers to our pdf files using livecycle ES2.

And further, we would like to know whether header and footer adding is available in the trial version of Livecycle ES2?

why some fonts can't be embedded in the conversion result?

We installed the Livecycle ES , ES2 ,ES2.5 and ES3  ( PDF Generator ) in different OS, when  converting  the MS Word document , some fonts can't be embedded in the PDF.

of cause we have set the configuration to embed these fonts to the conversion result ,but it's not valid ,

we saved the standard "Adobe PDF Settings " as another pdf setting , in this setting , we choosed the embed all fonts , and select the fonts we want to embed in the conversion result from the left frame into the right ( which means always embed ),when convert the word document , we just choose this adobe pdf setting  in LiveCycle ES2, ES2.5, ES3 , all of them are failed the embed the font (KaiTi , a Simply Chinese font ), but with LiveCycle ES , it's all right just with "Standard" Adobe PDF Setting .

We have copied the font into the Windows System ,Generally , C:\Windows\Fonts , and installed the font .

because the customer must use this font in there document's , how can I  solve this problem  ?

any  help ?
